Arsenal vs Man Utd: Pires speaks on Arteta's team finishing in top four

Former Arsenal winger, Robert Pires, has said manager Mikel Arteta will turn the team into title contenders.

Pires, who played under Arsene Wenger, went further to say the Gunners could even make the top-four this season.

Arsenal host Manchester United on Saturday evening and go into the fixture sitting in ninth place with 30 points.

“It’s hard but I would not even rule out that they finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League this year because things change quickly in the league.

“If I see Liverpool having tough periods, I’m telling myself there is an opportunity for Arsenal to grab.

“They only need to get back to winning ways and then maintain the consistency. Then anything can happen,” Pires said.

Arsenal’s squad to face Manchester United in today’s Premier League clash has been revealed.

According to Football London, Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has named a 25-man squad to tackle Man United at the Emirates Stadium.

Arteta’s men head to the game following a 3-1 win over Southampton on Tuesday in their last Premier League fixture, while Man United were defeated 2-1 by Sheffield United on Wednesday.

Arsenal’s full squad against Man United:

Goalkeepers: Bernd Leno, Runar Runarsson and Mat Ryan.

Defenders: Hector Bellerin, Gabriel Magalhaes, David Luiz, Rob Holding, Cedric Soares, Calum Chambers and Kieran Tierney.

Midfielders: Granit Xhaka, Mohamed Elneny, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Joe Willock, Emile Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka, Willian, Nicolas Pepe, Reiss Nelson, Dani Ceballos and Martin Odegaard.

Forwards: Alexandre Lacazette, Eddie Nketiah, Gabriel Martinelli and Folarin Balogun.

The kick-off time for Arsenal vs Man United is 6: 30 pm.

West Ham United’s new signing, Jesse Lingard, has said that he came to the Hammers to work hard, help the team and bring his experience.

The 28-year-old, who will wear the No. 11 jersey at the London Stadium, explained that he wants to enjoy football and get back playing again.

Lingard joined West Ham from Manchester United on loan for the rest of the season on Friday.

The England international has reunited with his former manager, David Moyes, at West Ham after falling out of favour with Man United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford.

“I am excited,” Lingard told West Ham TV.

“It is another new chapter in my life. Nothing is guaranteed, but I have come here to work hard and help the team and bring my experience.

“That is the main aim. I just want to enjoy my football and get back playing again and get my feet back on the pitch.

“There were lots of clubs involved, but, for me personally, I felt this was the right move. I have obviously had a previous relationship with the manager as he was at Man U and I have played under him before, so he knows my qualities and what I can bring to the team.”..
