Chelsea vs Luton Town: Lampard singles out one player after FA Cup 3-1 win

Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard, has singled out midfielder, Billy Gilmour, for praise following his side’s FA Cup 3-1 victory over Luton Town at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Lampard said Gilmour made things difficult for Luton Town, adding that the Scottish youngster was outstanding against the visitors.

Chelsea defeated the Championship side, thanks to Tammy Abraham’s hat-trick.

“Playing like he [Billy Gilmour] did today is making it very difficult [not to give him more minutes] because I thought he was outstanding,” Lampard said at post-match after the game.

“His comfort on the ball, the way he moved it, his discipline, his personality was great. If he plays like he does today, it makes it very difficult for me not to give him a run.

“He trains that way too.

“With his youth and the injury he had, and with the difficult run we’ve been on in the last month, it’s been a case of me finding the right time to get Billy in. Today felt like the right time, and he was brilliant.

“In the short term for me, looking at things today, he won’t be going out on loan. Of course, we’ll keep that slightly open until the end of the month, but Billy is a Chelsea player and the level he showed highlights today why he is a Chelsea player in the middle of the park.”

Chelsea’s next game is against Wolves in the Premier League on Wednesday.

West Bromwich Albion manager, Sam Allardyce, wants to sign former Leicester City striker, Ahmed Musa.

The Super Eagles captain is a free agent and has remained without a club since leaving Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia.

According to the Daily Mail, Allardyce may turn to Musa, as he needs a cut-price forward to help his team score enough goals to avoid relegation.

Musa is believed to be keen on the move, as he wants to show he has the quality to succeed in the Premier League.

West Brom have already applied for a visa for the 28-year-old.

The Nigerian may even arrive in the UK as early as Wednesday, if everything goes as planned.

Manchester United welcome West Ham in the fifth round of the FA Cup, while Southampton are away to Wolves after eliminating holders Arsenal.

The Hammers crushed Doncaster Rovers 4-0 and will now travel to Old Trafford in the next round, after United beat Liverpool 3-2 in Sunday’s clash.

Wolves were the first side that qualified for the fifth round, beating Chorley 1-0 and will host Southampton, who ended Arsenal’s defence with a 1-0 win.

Manchester City will face Swansea and Barnsley take on Chelsea.

Everton could face Tottenham if both Premier League teams can see off Sheffield Wednesday and Wycombe respectively.
