JANUARY 2021 IMPARTATION SERVICE – DAY 14 – SUNDAY, 17TH JANUARY, 2021

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE(S): LUKE 22:31-32; 2 TIMOTHY 4:7

MESSAGE TOPIC: KEEPING FAITH ALIVE (1&2)

By: Dr Paul Enenche

SERVICE OBJECTIVE(S): Understanding the forces that keep faith alive

Faith is such a critical necessity to the child of God and so it must be kept alive and kept healthy at all times and at all cost

It must be prevented from failing

When faith fails, it is like a major organ in the body failing – it is like heart, lung or kidney failure

A major achievement of the Christian journey is the keeping of the faith

Keeping of the faith is necessary because a child of God depends on faith like the body depends on water to survive; faith is the oxygen of the spirit. When faith fails life is at risk (Luke 22:31-32)

Faith failure can be as disastrous to spiritual life as aircraft engine failure

WHAT IS THE CONSEQUENCE OF FAITH FAILURE?

1. Life is in danger when faith fails (Hab. 2:4)

2. Victory is never in view when faith fails (1John 5:4)

When faith fails, people swim and revel in defeat

3. Salvation is at risk with faith failure (Eph. 2:8; Heb. 11:6)

When faith fails, people cease to believe that God is real

When faith fails, people become indifferent to God

B1. Faith is critical to life; it is a sustainer of life. When faith fails, life can end (Rom. 1:17)

B2. Faith is platform for victory; when faith fails life ends as casualty (1John 5:4)

B3. Faith is the strength of our salvation; when faith fails spirituality crashes (Eph. 2:8; Rom. 11:20)

WHAT ARE THE FORCES NEEDED TO KEEP FAITH ALIVE?

1. The force of Light (John 1:1-5; Rom. 10:17; Acts 8:30-37)

This refers to insight in the Word

Light is relevant for keeping faith alive

Light is the fuel of faith

The reception of light equals the manifestation of faith

HOW DOES LIGHT BRING FAITH?

1a. Light brings understanding and understanding births faith (Acts 8:30-37)

Depth of light equals strength of faith

1b. Light dissolves the darkness of doubt and unbelief (John 1:5)

There are things you are afraid of now because of the absence of light

When the light comes, doubt is cleared, fear dies and unbelief disappears

1c. Light brings direction for faith action (Ps. 119:105; Luke 5:4-5; Ps. 119:18)

When light comes, you know the steps to take and moves to make to get the results you desire

Revelation determines conviction, conviction determines action, and action determines manifestation

When you take the right steps, you connect the right power

2. The force of Sound (Num. 13:31-14:1; 1Sam. 17:11)

This refers to the power of what you hear

What you hear can either make or break your faith it can either build or ruin your faith

HOW DOES THE POWER OF SOUND AFFECT FAITH?

2a. What you hear determines what you can believe and it determines what you fear (Rom. 10:17; Deut. 13:11; 17:13)

What you hear can either build your faith or groom your fear

2b. What you hear transmits the spirit in the sound into your life because every sound has a spirit (John 6:63)

Every sound has a spirit – if it is the Spirit of God it births faith but if it is the spirit of the devil, it brings only destruction

2c. Hearing is gateway to understanding (Matt. 13:13)

To keep your faith alive, you must be selective with what you allow into your ears

3. The force of the right mindset (2Kings 4:9-11; Luke 5:5; Prov. 23:7; Luke 1:45)

Mindset is not just thought, mindset is settled thinking, established opinion, concluded thinking

Your present location is not your final destination!

If you need your faith to be alive, you need a positive mindset

There is no limit of time, space and matter if it is with God

THINGS TO NOTE ABOUT MINDSET/MENTALITY:

3a. Mentality sets the limit on destiny (Prov. 23:7)

3b. Mentality determines possibility (Prov. 23:7; Luke 1:45)

3c. Mentality is the determinant of reality

It doesn’t matter where you have come from in the world, if you don’t know God, you are at the back

Your mindset sets your destiny; you must set and reset your mind with Scripture

4. The force of the Spirit (2Cor. 4:13; 2Tim. 1:6-7; 2Tim. 1:12; 1Cor. 2:9-10; Jude 1:20)

The Spirit of God is the Spirit of faith (2Cor. 4:13)

The Spirit of God is also the Spirit of boldness and audacity (2Tim. 1:6-7)

Jesus had the Spirit without measure and so he had audacity beyond words

HOW DOES THE SPIRIT OF GOD HELP YOUR FAITH?

4a. The Holy Spirit illuminates Scriptures and ushers the saint into depths of light that fuel the strength of faith (1Cor. 2:9-10)

It is not possible to be spirit-filled and be doubt filled at the same time

4b. The Holy Spirit uses the Scriptures to construct faith in the heart of the child of God (Jude 1:20)

4c. The Holy Spirit makes both God and His Word believable (Rom. 5:5; 1Cor. 13:7)

5. The force of the picture (Hab. 2:1; Jer. 2:31; Gen. 13:14-15; 15:5-6; Heb. 11:27)

Faith is both fed and fuelled by spiritual sight or picture

God speaks in words but expects man to see the pictures of the speech by the power of the Spirit

The Word of the Lord can be seen (Jer. 2:31)

Abraham the father of faith was a father of pictures (Gen. 13:14-15; 15:5-6)

Vision assists conviction, the picture assists the persuasion

Seeing the invisible makes it easy to believe the impossible and the incredible

God is saying something, what are you seeing from what God is saying?

What man cannot see, God cannot give – that is the law of spiritual reception

WHAT IS THE POWER OF PICTURE?

5a. You can’t doubt it if you can see it (John 4:48)

It is only difficult to believe if your mind can’t catch it

If you can perceive it mentality, you can receive it physically

5b. Pictures are the language of the Spirit (Joel 2:28)

5c. Once you see well, God is in a hurry for performance (Jer. 1:11-12)

6. The force of thought (Prov. 23:7; Matt. 9:1-8; Luke 11:14-18; Eph. 3:20; Matt. 9:20-21; Deut. 15:9; Luke 12:17; Num. 14:28)

This is what comes into the mind from time to time

Thought can either confirm and empower faith or counter and disempower your faith

Positive optimistic thoughts confirm and empower faith but negative and pessimistic thoughts confound, counter and disempower faith

Your thought is either confirming or nullifying your faith

Thought is a form of speech; it is inner speech

Your thinking is as clear to God as your speaking (Eph. 3:20)

For some people your outer speech is nullified by your inner speaking (thought)

Thinking is speaking

HOW DOES THOUGHT AFFECT FAITH??

6a. Until you have control over your thoughts you have no control over your faith; your faith is linked to your thought

6b. Until the mind is renewed life is never upgraded (Rom. 12:1-2)

6c. God does not only hear and answer words, He hears and answers thoughts (Eph. 3:20)

6d. The right thought provokes the Voice of the Spirit (Acts 10:19)

7. The force of Testimony (Luke 1:36-38; 1Sam. 17:32-37)

Testimonies are boosters of faith

HOW DO TESTIMONIES AFFECT FAITH?

7a. Testimonies destroy doubt and provoke belief (2Thess. 1:6-10)

Testimonies impart easy believability

7b. Testimonies brings understanding and understanding undergirds faith (Ps. 119:99, 144)

7c. Testimonies bring counsel and guidance and that helps you to take action (Ps. 119:24)

8. The force of the right company (Acts 4:13; 2Tim. 1:5; Judg. 7:17)

The company you keep has a lot to do with the faith in your heart

You can’t be the friend of the doubting doubter and be a believing believer

Who you hang around depends what hangs on you or what can hang on your life

Be careful who you hang around

HOW DOES THE RIGHT COMPANY AFFECT FAITH?

8a. Association determines assimilation and impartation

8b. Company determines belief and mindset (Prov. 13:20)

8c. Association affects action (Judg. 7:17)

You dare alike
