THE UNCHANGEABLE CHANGER

THE UNCHANGEABLE CHANGER.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL.

DATE: SUNDAY 17TH OCTOBER, 2021.

THEME: THE UNCHANGEABLE CHANGER.

MEMORIZE:

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Hebrews 13:8

BIBLE READING: GENESIS 32:24-32

24. And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

25. And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.

26. And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

27. And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.

28. And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

29. And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.

30. And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

31. And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.

32. Therefore the children of Israel eat not of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob’s thigh in the sinew that shrank.

MESSAGE

One thing every child of God must always remember is that our Father is the Unchangeable Changer. In Genesis we read how God changed a chaotic situation to a peaceful and orderly universe. The Unchangeable Changer effected the changes without Himself being changed.

“And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.”

“Genesis 1:2-3”

The Almighty God – the Unchangeable Changer, changed the unfruitful situation of Sarah to fruitfulness (Genesis 21:1-36 ).

He did the same thing for Hannah (1 Samuel 2:1-36) and turned Jacobs life around for good by changing his name to Israel, as recorded in our Bible reading of today.

This clearly proves that what God did in the life of the father of faith (Abraham) He could do in the life of his descendants also. This is why I know that you will encounter this Great Changer who does not change.

As He did for those who sought and called Him in the past, so will He do for you today, in the mighty name of Jesus.

Sometime ago, a certain young man who was afflicted with the spirit of madness asked his relatives to bring him to the Redemption Camp.

As his feet touched the ground of the Redemption Camp, he was delivered completely, even before anybody could pray for him. Apparently, the Unchangeable Changer was already waiting for him.

I also recall the case of a highly educated fellow who was unable to get a job in spite of all his qualifications. He surrendered his life to Jesus and we prayed a simple prayer for him.

Before he got home that day, three employment offers were waiting for him.

The Unchangeable Changer changed his hopeless situation and he began to sing a new song. have good news for you: Jesus Christ never changes; if He did it before, He can certainly do it again. As the Lord was performing miracles during His earthly ministry, so is He still doing today.

Beloved, put your trust in Him and He will not let you down because He is the Unchangeable Changer. If you would only call on Him now, He would change your situation for the better in the mighty name of Jesus.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please change my situation for the better from today,in the mighty name of Jesus.

1. O Lord, our help in ages past,

THEME: ARE YOU ON THE RIGHT SIDE?

MEMORISE:

Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD's side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him. Exodus 32:26

READ: Exodus 32:25-26

25 And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies:)

26 Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD's side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

MESSAGE:

In John 21:1-6, we read about the disciples’ encounter with the resurrected Jesus at the Sea Tiberias where they had gone fishing. In spite of all their hard work they caught nothing. Jesus came to them, but they initially did not recognize Him. He then teased them, asking “Children, have ye any meat?” The answer was obviously negative. When you are not where you should be, you are on the wrong side and this can bring untold hardship and sorrow.

Jesus had compassion upon the apostle and gave them a directive to cast their net to the right side of the boat for a catch. They obeyed and hauled in a mighty catch. Every child of God must always strive to be on the right side of the Lord- doing His will, obeying Hos word and walking according to his ways.

“And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar. Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.” Genesis 13:10-11

Lot greedily chose the land that seemed good for his flocks without consideration for his elderly uncle who brought him out to choose first. Unfortunately, it was the wrong side; it was a place marked for destruction. The land was totally destroyed and lot lost everything except two of his daughters. He even lost his wife to the destruction.

“Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground. But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.” Genesis 19:24-26

Beloved, please come to the Lord’s side today if you are yet to answer His call. Repent and accept Him as your Lord and Savior. He will prosper and give you all-round rest as He has promised, in the mighty name of Jesus,

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please take me away from the wrong side of life and bring me to the right side, in Jesus’ name.

THE BLESSINGS OF BEING WITH JESUS

THE BLESSINGS OF BEING WITH JESUS

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: MONDAY, 20TH SEPTEMBER, 2021.

TOPIC: THE BLESSINGS OF BEING WITH JESUS

MEMORISE

And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach.

READ: Acts 4:13-14

13. Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

14. And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.

MESSAGE

There are occasional followers of Jesus Christ and there are those who are permanent as well. The occasional followers of Jesus Christ typically opt not to live completely according to the Lord's standards, choosing what and when to obey. They choose a life of partial obedience to the word of God. Once, when Jesus was teaching these standards, the Bible says in John 6:66 "From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him".

To be with Jesus means to live by His teachings. He once lamented in Luke 6:46 "And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" He said further in John 8:31-32"...If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed: And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

Two things are clear in our Bible reading of today: One, if you have been with Jesus indeed, boldness will be your trademark. The Bible says: For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Romans 8:15.

When a so-called child of God is living in fear, we must check whether he has been with Jesus indeed. Two, Someone who has been with Jesus lives a daily miraculous life. This is another trademark of genuine followers of Jesus Christ as we read in the text today. The Bible says:

And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it. Acts 4:14

I  have taught in the School of Disciples that what our Master Jesus did, we can do also, and even more, according to His promise. When this happens, we become genuine ambassadors of Christ on earth. As Christ's ambassadors, we shall bring the whole world to their knees, saying "Jesus is Lord", We are light and salt indeed we choose to be with Jesus, living according to His standards, as written in the Bible. The blessings of being with Jesus include learning from Him and when we do so we shall find rest of our soul. According to Matthew 11:29. If you are yet to give your life to Christ, make up your mind, not only to come to Jesus today, but also to stay put. Don't be an Occasional or casual follower of Jesus Christ.

ACTION POINT

Make up your mind today to Iive the rest of your life for and with Jesus and you will be blessed indeed.

TOPIC: PROVISION THROUGH THANKS

MEMORISE

Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God. 2 Corinthians 9:11

READ: John 6:11-13

11. And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

12. When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

13. Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.

MESSAGE

There are many so-called praise songs that are not celebrating the beauty of God's holiness and are thus unacceptable to the Lord. The sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving can produce abundant prosperity, according to our memory verse today. Let us consider prosperity through the sacrifice of thanks, as we see in today's Bible reading.

We as children of God need to understand that God has numerous ways by which He can do whatever He says He will. We should not waste our time in trying to pre-empt God or dictating to Him how our blessings or prosperity should come. We are to simply pray for what we want with thanksgiving (Philippians 4:6).

When the battle against the children of Israel raged in 2 Chronicles 20, King Jehoshaphat merely obeyed the voice of the Lord by appointing choristers to sing unto God. Who would have thought that soldiers from the attacking nations would go to war with so many precious jewels and expensive clothes?

God had purposed to bless His people because He knew from the onset that they would praise and bless the beauty of His holiness and He had to compensate them for giving Him His due!

Another lesson we must learn from this story is that our praise and worship must be inspired by the Holy Spirit Some of our so-called songs of praise are from our carnal man, not the Spirit.

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:23-24 When we give God heartfelt praise and worship, He in turn showers us with blessings. However, if we deny Him the praise He is worthy of, He would also deny us is prosperity. In the text of today, our Lord gave thanks upon five loaves and two fishes; the response of His Father was phenomenal - five thousand men were fed to satisfaction Many of us are so ungrateful. How blessed we would be we could learn to offer God the sacrifice of thanks.

Let us cultivate the habit of giving God worthy praise and thanksgiving and He will bless us with abundant prosperity.

ACTION POINT

Decide to worship God in truth, in spirit and in holiness, giving thanks throughout today as you go about your activities.

Proverbs 13

HYMNAL:

 HYMN 20 - PRAISE TO LORD, THE ALMIGHTY, THE KING OF CREATION!

1 Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!

 O my soul, praise him, for he is your health and salvation!

 Come, all who hear; now to his temple draw near,

 join me in glad adoration.

 2 Praise to the Lord, above all things so wondrously reigning;

 sheltering you under his wings, and so gently sustaining!

 Have you not seen all that is needful has been

 sent by his gracious ordaining?

 3 Praise to the Lord, who will prosper your work and defend you;

 surely his goodness and mercy shall daily attend you.

 Ponder anew what the Almighty can do,

 if with his love he befriends you.

 All that has life and breath, come now with praises before him.

 Let the Amen sound from his people again;

TOPIC: HOLY SPIRIT: THE ENGINE ROOM FOR MISSIONS

MEMORISE

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8

READ: 1 Corinthians 12:4-11

12:4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

12:5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.

12:6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

12:9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

12:10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

12:11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

MESSAGE

Towards the end of His earthly ministry, our Lord Jesus Christ gave us an assignment, commonly called the Great Commission: to preach the gospel to every creature.

 He however, mentioned a requirement we would need before going out to witness to the whole world about Him -the power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8).

Embarking on the work of missions without the power of the Holy Spirit is suicidal. This is the reason we have casualties among modern day missionaries because some of them are not spiritually-equipped. While they have the zeal, many lack the spiritual empowerment for the work at this present time just like Uzzah when the Ark of the Covenant was being moved.

 And when they came to Nachon's threshing floor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it. And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there... for his error; and there he died by the ark of God. 2 Samuel 6:6-7.

Presumptuous sin killed Uzzah. This is the reason David prayed that God should deliver him from presumptuous sins: Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins. Psalm 19:13

We need to be endued in the Holy Spirit before we can be effective missionaries. While the missionary mandate must be kept by genuine children of God, we must be sure to receive the power of the Holy Ghost before we start. We must therefore be baptised in the Holy Spirit. I pray that as many as are thirsty for the baptism of the Holy Spirit shall be satisfied with it today, in Jesus' name.

Going by the gift which the Holy Spirit offers us in the text of today, we can see the reason every missionary and soul winner must be possessed by the Holy Spirit. For example, the word of wisdom is necessary for effective evangelism. A preacher without the Holy Spirit is a mere orator. A missionary needs the gifts of prophecy and discerning of spirits as a weapon against the deceit of the devil. Of course, without speaking and praying in tongues, a missionary's prayer life would be in shambles. I pray that every soulwinner using this devotiona today will be adequately equipped by the Holy Spirit to exploits, in Jesus' name.

ACTION POINT

God is willing to baptise you with the Holy Spirit. Ensure you rid yourself of all impurities that may hinder Him from coming into your life today

MEMORISE:

And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. Genesis 2:15

READ: Deuteronomy 18:9-13

9 When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.

10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.

11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

13 Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.

MESSAGE:

The Almighty God is the greatest conservationist of all. Right from Genesis we read how God commanded Adam to make sure the beautiful garden He had given him did not suffer decay or any pollution, as we see in our memory verse today.

There are many ways one can pollute the land or any God given gift. The land can be polluted by sin of all sorts, particularly idolatry and human sacrifice. In today’s memory verse we are confronted with the seriousness God attaches to the preservation of His creation. In our Bible reading today, God outlined what His chosen people must avoid so that the land that was destined to flow with milk and honey might remain blessed perpetually, it reads in part:

“When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.” Deuteronomy 18:9

Idolatry is the most grievous sin against God, according to Exodus 20:3. When Adam decided to obey the devil rather than the Lord, he chose another god for himself. Many people think idolatry is when you put an image on the ground and begin to worship it. There are idolaters in The Church- people who choose to obey the devil rather than God. They are always at Church programmes but never do what God wants them to do. The Bible says:

“ And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.” Ezekiel 33:31

By disobeying the word of God, people pollute the land, bringing eternal curse upon themselves and generations after them. This was exactly what the first man did and God cursed the land because of him, according to Genesis 3:17. To keep the land which the Lord has given us to inhabit, we must obey Him and live according to His word, when we do this, our land will be free from evil and it will yield great increase for our pleasure, according to Deuteronomy 28:1-13.

I encourage you to give your life to Jesus Christ today and begin to leave according to the word of God from now.

ACTION POINT:

If you have polluted the land in any way, repent and call on God for forgiveness so that the time of refreshing may come from God upon your life (Acts 3:19).

HYMN 22:   STAND UP, STAND UP FOR JESUS.

1. Stand up, stand up for Jesus! ye soldiers of the cross;

Lift high His royal banner, it must not suffer loss:

From vict’ry unto vict’ry, His army shall He lead,

Till every foe is vanquished, and Christ is Lord indeed.

2. Stand up, stand up for Jesus! The trumpet call obey:

Forth to the mighty conflict, in this His glorious day;

Ye that are men now serve Him against unnumbered foes;

Let courage rise with danger, and strength to strength oppose.

3. Stand up, stand up for Jesus! Stand in His strength alone,

The arm of flesh will fail you, ye dare not trust your own;

Put on the gospel armor, and watching unto prayer,

Where calls the voice of duty, be never wanting there.

4. Stand up, stand up for Jesus! the strife will not be long;

This day the noise of battle, the next the victor’s song;

To him that overcometh a crown of life shall be;

He with the King of glory shall reign eternally.

TOPIC: THE CREATIVE WORD OF GOD

MEMORISE

“In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.” – (Genesis 1:1)

 READ: John 1:1-3 (KJV)

1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2. The same was in the beginning with God.

3. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

MESSAGE

There is power in the word of God. The word of God has creative power. The power in the word of God created space where there seemed to be none, according to our Bible reading for today.

The word of God will always make a way where there is no way and a space where there is no space. When the Israelites got to the Red Sea and it seemed that they were shut between it and the hosts of Pharaoh, the Lord spoke through Moses that they should move on. It takes faith in God to obey such a command, but thank God they did and their obedience paid off because the word made an expressway in the sea for them to pass through. Exodus 14:15-16 says:

And the Lord said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? Speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward: But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the mist of the sea.

Another lesson we should learn here is that we should always talk to God about our challenges. Moses did this effectively and every time he did, God spoke. This made Moses a problem-solver because he always heard from God. Also, when God speaks, it is done. All that is required for the ultimate manifestation is for us to take the necessary action in obedience to His word. My life is a testimony of the power in the word of God. The word of God has increased my faith in the past and is still doing so. It was the word which came to me during a family devotion that strengthened me when we were trusting God for our first natural birth. Indeed, it came through one of the children as we were considering the miracle of the parting of the Red Sea when the power of God made a way where there was none. The Bible says in Exodus 14:16:

But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it...

It was Moses who divided the sea under the influence of God’s word. The word had established it ahead:

...and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.

The children of God moved forward in faith and it came to pass. We must be both hearers and doers of the word (James 1:22,25). My prayer for you is that, as you obey the word of God, you will begin to do the impossible, in Jesus’ name.

ACTION POINT

Examine your life and see if there are ways in which you have not been heeding God's word. Repent so that you may begin to live in the supernatural from now.

THEME:  WHEN YOU NEED A REVIVAL

MEMORISE:

For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.  2 Corinthians 7:10

READ:  PSALMS 51:1-12

1. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

2. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

3. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

4. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

5. Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

6. Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

7. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

8. Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

9. Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

10. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew aright spirit within me.

11. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

12. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

MESSAGE:

Many people are in need of revival, yet have not been able to access it because of pride. The need for revival which brings about spiritual restoration comes on the heels of spiritual decay. A lot of things could be responsible for spiritual decay. One of it is disobedience. The Bible says that when Adam and Eve disobeyed God, they lost their fellowship with Him. Before the fall, the Bible says the man and his wife were naked, but not ashamed (Genesis 2:25 ).

After the fall however, the Bible says that their eyes were opened - ‘enlightened’ (Genesis 3:7-8 ), and they became ashamed.

There are many lessons we can learn from the above cited Scripture. One, spiritual decay leads to the exposure of nakedness and shame. Shame is the opposite of glory. Spiritual decay is the cause of all kinds of sin; it is what accounts for many women dressing in revealing clothes, as they strive to attract men, luring them into sexual immorality. In the same vein, many men engage in sexual immorality both before and even in the course of their marriages. You will never behave in such a way when the glory of God is upon you.

Indeed, the Bible says:

“The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.” “Proverbs 16:31”

When someone loses his or her spirituality, the voice of the Lord becomes fearsome to the fellow. He or she becomes resistant to the word of the Lord. At the end of the day, such people run from their Bible-believing Church to so-called churches where deceit is the order of the day. Such people need spiritual restoration.

The problem with such people, however, is their pride which will not allow them to follow David’s example in his response to the message from God through prophet Nathan in 2 Samuel 12:1-13 . David acknowledged his sins and God forgave and restored him. The product of this story is found in the text of today which reads in part:

“Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.”

“Psalm 51:11-12”

Beloved, are you spiritually cold?, Have you lost some of the spiritual gifts that make you radiate the glory of the Lord? All you need is to call on Jesus Christ with every sense of humility. He will restore you speedily.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please forgive me of the sins that have taken away the joy of my salvation. Restore to me Your Spirit of liberty, in the mighty name of Jesus.

THEME: SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS.

MEMORISE:

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

Ephesians 1:3

READ: Ephesians 1:3-5

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

MESSAGE:

Blessings are in various categories. There are physical as well as spiritual blessings, according to the memory verse of today. Physical blessings are temporary while those of a spiritual nature are enduring and eternal. All blessings however- whether physical or spiritual, come from the Lord, according to James 1:17:

“ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”

The best of all blessings are those of a spiritual nature, which transcend the present age. This is why Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ wrote:

If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.  1 Corinthians 15:19

Spiritual blessings cannot be qualified in material or monetary terms. These include gifts of the Holy Spirit as well as victory over principalities and powers. The benefits of spiritual blessings are captured in Mark 10:29-30 thus:

“And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.”

In addition to all the physical blessings we get from submitting to the lordship of Jesus Christ, we have the spiritual blessing of eternal life. No matter how long we live on the earth, we shall depart from it one day. Where will you spend eternity- Heaven or hell? May you not spend eternity in hell, in the mighty name of Jesus.

To access spiritual blessings, you must believe Jesus and make Him your personal Lord and Savior (John 6:27-29).

ACTION POINT:

Ask the Almighty God to load you with spiritual blessings. If, however, you have not given your life to Jesus, accept Him as your Lord today so that you can also begin to enjoy special blessings.

HYMN 30:   WHEN UPON LIFE’S BILLOWS YOU ARE TEMPEST TOASSED.

1. When upon life's billows you are tempest tossed,

When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,

Count your many blessings, name them one by one,

And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Refrain:

Count your blessings, name them one by one;

Count your blessings, see what God hath done;

Count your blessings, name them one by one;

Count your many blessings, see what God hath done.

2. Are you ever burdened with a load of care?

Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?

Count your many blessings, ev'ry doubt will fly,

And you will be singing as the days go by.

3. When you look at others with their lands and gold,

Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold;

Count your many blessings, money cannot buy

Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high.

4. So, amid the conflict, whether great or small,

Do not be discouraged, God is over all;

Count your many blessings, angels will attend,

Help and comfort give you to your journey's end.

THEME: WHO DO YOU REPRESENT?

MEMORISE:

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light; 1 Peter 2:9

READ: 2 Corinthians 5:18-21

18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

MESSAGE:

From the beginning of creation God has designed man to be His representative on the earth. Man was created to act on behalf of God on the earth. Genesis 1:26 says:

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”  Genesis 1:26.

Man was relieved of his duty as a result of sin and lost all the privileges that should ordinarily have been easily his. However, the Almighty God offers us salvation through Jesus Christ who said in Matthew 11:28-30:

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

As many as respond to this call become Christ’s Ambassadors- representing Him everywhere on the earth. This was the authority the early disciples had and one of the apostles wrote in our text of today:

“And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation…Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.;” 2 Corinthians 5:18, 20.

Beloved, are you a representative of Christ or the devil Your response to Christ’s call will determine whose representative you are, according to our memory verse of today. It is a good thing to be a representative of the Almighty God here on earth; the benefits are innumerable, ranging from spiritual to physical. What is expected of us to live according to our calling- not to disgrace the One who has called us but show forth His praise.

I pray that you will not miss it as the first man did, in Jesus’ name.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please give me the grace to be Tour true ambassador at all times, in Jesus’ name.

HYMN 22:   STAND UP, STAND UP FOR JESUS.

1. Stand up, stand up for Jesus! ye soldiers of the cross;

Lift high His royal banner, it must not suffer loss:

From vict’ry unto vict’ry, His army shall He lead,

Till every foe is vanquished, and Christ is Lord indeed.

2. Stand up, stand up for Jesus! The trumpet call obey:

Forth to the mighty conflict, in this His glorious day;

Ye that are men now serve Him against unnumbered foes;

Let courage rise with danger, and strength to strength oppose.

3. Stand up, stand up for Jesus! Stand in His strength alone,

The arm of flesh will fail you, ye dare not trust your own;

Put on the gospel armor, and watching unto prayer,

Where calls the voice of duty, be never wanting there.

4. Stand up, stand up for Jesus! the strife will not be long;

This day the noise of battle, the next the victor’s song;

To him that overcometh a crown of life shall be;

He with the King of glory shall reign eternally.

THEME: EMMANUEL II.

MEMORISE:

And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.

Exodus 33:15

READ: Exodus 33:12-17

12 And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight.

13 Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.

14 And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

15 And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.

16 For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.

17 And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.

*MESSAGE:*

One of the secrets behind the success of Moses as the leader of the Israelites is that he knew the importance of the presence of God in every aspect of life. He cherished God’s presence to the point that he would not make any move without of the certainty of His approval. God told Moses that His presence would be with them (Exodus 33:14-15); this assured him of success, victory, safety and rest of mind.

It is amazing to observe that some so-called children of God feel they can achieve whatever they want to, without God in it. They live carelessly, committing acts which they know are displeasing to God, whereas our Lord Jesus Christ said:

“…..He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”  John 15:5

Beloved, we dare not embark on any journey or project without the certainty of the presence of God going with us because such a venture is bound to fail. God’s presence distinguishes an individual out of the multitude.

“And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence. For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.”  Exodus 33:15-16

The presence of the Lord guarantees safety according to Psalm 91:1. This blessing of divine presence is what Jesus Christ whose name is Emmanuel has wrought for us according to our memory verse of today.

To have God’s presence with us for guaranteed safety, success, breakthrough, victory and life eternal with Him, all we need to do is surrender to the Great Emmanuel. He will keep us now and in the world to come; He will stand by us and never leave nor forsake us.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please let me begin to enjoy Your presence like never before from today, in Jesus’ name.

THEME: WHAT ARE YOUR PRIORITIES?

MEMORISE:

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 1 Corinthians 2:9

READ: John 4:23-24.

23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

MESSAGE:

The Scriptures present us with a marked difference between the priorities of our Lord Jesus Christ and the concerns of His disciples. Just like His disciples, many of us are too bothered with how to meet our physical, psychological and emotional needs, rather than on spiritual things. We immerse ourselves in temporal concerns. Jesus assured His disciples that the Father knew their needs and would always provide for them (Luke 11:11-13). Jesus described what should be the topmost priority of all Heaven-bound Christians in Matthew 6:33:

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

It is often said that passionate people make the greatest contributions to the society. Be passionate about the things of God. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, so that the necessities of daily life will be provided. It is time to reprioritize your life and passion.

God is called the God of glory in Act 7:2. There is a great expectation for all who serve God in holiness and truth. Everyone who dedicates themselves to serving God in spirit and in truth will enjoy divine favour (Psalm 5:12). It should be noted that a day of Devine favour is better than many years of labor. Divine favor is superior to luck or good fortune. I pray that you will experience divine favor from today, in Jesus’ name.

Heaven-bound Christians are focused on serving God in spirit and in truth (John 2:24). Material and worldly possessions are secondary to them, despite God’s assurance of His provision. There is fruitfulness for all who consecrate themselves to serving God in spirit and truth. Psalm 92:12 says:

“The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.”

There is an assurance of victory over all known and unknown enemies for those who serve God in righteousness. Psalm 132:18 says:

“His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.”

Are you consecrated to God? Do you love Him? Is the righteousness of God your priority? If your answer to each of these questions is ‘yes’, blessed are you. If not, seek a deeper relationship with the Lord from today and you would be blessed also.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please grant me the grace to consecrate myself unto You. Help me to make righteousness my utmost priority, in Jesus’ name.

THEME: THE MARKS OF THE LORD JESUS.

MEMORISE:

From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus. Galatians 6:17

READ: Titus 2:11-15.

11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

MESSAGE:

A mark can be described as an impression, a distinguishing trait or quality. Every genuine child of God bears some mark within them that identifies him or her as a child of God.

“The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:” Romans 8:16

One distinguishing traits or quality that indicates ownership by the Lord Jesus is holiness which produces faithfulness and other Christian virtues. Everyone belonging to Christ is expected to be holy in order to exhibit His characteristics. Faithfulness is another hallmark of a Christian carrying the mark of Jesus. This results in our steadfastness in prayer, tithes and offerings, studying the word of God, our marital relationships, general human relations and our service to God. God expects you as His child to be faithful to Him, yourself and others.

Christ came to do the perfect will of God for His life. Hebrews 10:7 says:

“Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.”

Anything that brings shame or reproach to the name of the Lord is not His will for your life. Are you passionate about the things of God? Do you obey the Bible which is the written word of God?

Love is another mark of the Lord Jesus. John 13:1 says:

“Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.”

Indicators of love include endurance, kindness, selflessness, humility, self-discipline and purity. Love subdues pride and vain glory; it is not puffed up with conceit. It is not insolent, neither does it despise others, trample on them, nor treat them with contempt and scorn. Love is selfless, the complete opposite of selfishness. It cannot harbor malice, neither can it plan evil.

Holiness and love are two marks of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Do you bear these marks?

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please let the marks of the Lord Jesus be evident in my life, for Your glory.

HYMN 9:  HOLY, HOLY, HOLY, LORD GOD ALMIGHTY.

1. Holy, holy, holy! Lord God almighty!

Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee.

Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!

God in three persons, blessed trinity!

2. Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore thee,

casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;

cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee,

which wert, and art, and evermore shalt be.

3. Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee,

though the eye of sinfulness thy glory may not see,

only thou art holy; there is none beside thee,

perfect in pow’r, in love, and purity.

4. Holy, holy, holy! Lord God almighty!

THEME: PRAYER, PRAISE AND WORSHIP.

MEMORISE:

Pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:17

READ: Acts 16:25-34.

25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.

27 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.

28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.

29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,

30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.

33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.

34 And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.

MESSAGE:

God’s desire for all His children is greatness. He wishes that they proper, be in health even as their souls prosper (3 John 2). However, a study of the word of God reveals that there are certain requirements for greatness, three of which are prayers, praises and worship. John 4:24 says:

“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”

Prayer is category communication with God in line with His will. In praises we thank God for what He has done, what He is doing and what He is yet to do. In worship, we appreciate God for who He is. God expects all of creation to worship Him; however, there are various categories of worshippers.

One category of worshippers comprises those who, at one time or the other, received a blessing from God (Psalm 150:6). No matter how little you think the goodness of the Lord in your life may be, it is imperative that you praise Him.

The next category of worshippers are the afflicted ones. These include the bereaved, the sorrowful, the disappointed and the discouraged in our midst. A classic example is job. Job was a man who worshipped God in prosperity (Job 1:1-5), in the midst of satanic afflictions (Job 1:15 to 2:9) and at the point of his turnaround (Job 42:1-6).

The third category of worshippers are the vessels unto honor (1 Timothy 2:19-21). Vessels unto dishonor are those used by devil to change joy to sorrow. There are the agents of the devil. A vessel unto honor however, is someone God can use anytime, anyway and anywhere He wants to. Worship characterizes vessels unto honor. In addition, vessels unto honor are chosen by God (John 15:16). Such people are willing to be chosen and ready to live holy all the time.

Are you a vessel unto honor? If yes, go ahead and give high praise to God. If not, repent and cry unto God for mercy.

May the Lord make and keep you as a vessel unto honor in the mighty name of Jesus.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please give me a grateful heart and the grace to praise and worship You always, in Jesus’ name.

TOPIC: LET YOUR LIGHT SO SHINE

MEMORISE
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” – (Matthew 5:16)

READ: Daniel 6:25-28 (KJV)

25. Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.

26. I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel; for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end.

27. He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.

28. So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

MESSAGE

God wants His children to shine as stars. From the Bible reading of today, you would see that Daniel shone and indeed outshone his colleagues. If you haven’t done so already, you must surrender your life to God today, shun iniquity totally and begin to love righteousness if you also want to shine. Psalm 75:6-7 says:
For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

If you are a parent, then you have a crucial role to play in the lives of your children so that they can be stars (Proverbs 22:6). You must give them proper training - spiritually, intellectually and morally (Deuteronomy 11:19). I thank God always for my mother, she did a good job of raising me. She encouraged me to study even when other children were out playing. I am what I am today by the grace of God and her efforts.

Teachers too must be involved - at school and in the Church. God bless my Mathematics teacher; he made a star in the subject out of me. He usually challenged the few of us who showed an interest in the subject, to make a hundred percent in our assignments. One day, we did and were very happy, hoping that we had finally impressed him. His reaction however kept us in check. He said “Look at you, your mates are now undergraduates and here you are bragging because you scored a hundred percent in Ordinary Level Mathematics!” He was clearly telling us to strive harder for excellence.

You can also influence your shining through hard work (Proverbs 22:29). Children should not waste their time playing when there are more profitable things to do. Breakthroughs do not come to lazy people. Look at Daniel, for example: he was diligent even when he was a nobody - a slave. This young man was eventually enlisted as a minister in Babylon (Daniel 1-2).

If you would shine, you must also strive to obtain the blessing of your parents (both biological and spiritual) by honouring them. My mother would always pray for me thus “When you call on one fellow, two hundred will respond.” Today, it is a reality in my life.

Your light will shine, in Jesus’ name.

PRAYER POINT
Father, please help me to do what I should in order to shine for You from now, in Jesus’ name.

HYMNAL:
HYMN 11 - I NEED THEE EVERY HOUR

1. I need Thee every hour,
Most gracious Lord;
No tender voice like Thine
Can peace afford.

REFRAIN:
I need Thee, Oh, I need Thee;
Every hour I need Thee!
Oh, bless me now, my Saviour,
I come to Thee.

2. I need Thee every hour,
Stay Thou near by;
Temptations lose their power
When Thou art nigh.

3. I need Thee every hour,
In joy or pain;
Come quickly, and abide
Or life is vain.

4. I need Thee every hour,
Teach me Thy will;
And Thy rich promises
In me fulfill.

THEME: WHEN REVIVAL COMES II.

MEMORISE:

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10

READ: Psalm 51:1-3.
1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

MESSAGE:
Today, I want you to take a self-evaluation: is there anything you have done that could land you in hell? Today is the day of repentance and restoration. A man of God once said “When genuine revival comes, everybody, including pastors, would have one or two things to repent of”. Revival is not the working of miracles; it is an increased spiritual interest or renewal of a life of holiness, in complete obedience to the word of God.

The first step towards experiencing a revival is to realize that one has sinned or fallen short of God’s expectations, according to Romans 3:23. Fervent prayers of repentance must therefore precede revival. In Psalm 51 we read of David praying fervently for revival and restoration after he had sinned against God. This is where many so-called born-again Christians, particularly those who consider themselves fairly old in the faith often miss it. They are like that Pharisee who went to the temple to display his superiority over the publican in Luke 18:10-14. If you ever realize that you have fallen short of God’s approval and favor, put aside your ego and humble yourself before the One who can forgive and forget. The Bible says in 1 John 2:1-2:
“My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”

What the Lord is telling us in this Scripture is that a child of God should be free of sin, according to 1 John 3:8-9 which says:
“He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.”

However, should anyone fall into sin, such a person must quickly cry to God in remorse for revival and restoration. The person must then have faith in the word of God and the blood of Jesus Christ for cleansing. Plead the blood of Jesus over your life and make up your mind never to go back to sin.

ACTION POINT:
Check your life and see if there is anything you have done contrary to the word of God. Confess it to God and let Him restore you to your position as His child.

HYMN 16:   O GOD OUR HELP IN AGES PAST.

1. O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home.

2. Under the shadow of Thy throne
Thy saints have dwelt secure;
Sufficient is Thine arm alone,
And our defense is sure.

3. Before the hills in order stood,
Or earth received her frame,
From everlasting Thou art God,
To endless years the same.

4. Thy Word commands our flesh to dust,
“Return, ye sons of men”:
All nations rose from earth at first,
And turn to earth again.

5. A thousand ages in Thy sight
Are like an evening gone;
Short as the watch that ends the night
Before the rising sun.

6. The busy tribes of flesh and blood,
With all their lives and cares,
Are carried downwards by the flood,
And lost in foll’wing years.

7. Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
Bears all its sons away;
They fly, forgotten, as a dream
Dies at the op’ning day.

8. Like flow’ry fields the nations stand
Pleased with the morning light;
The flow’rs beneath the mower’s hand
Lie with’ring ere ’tis night.

9. O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Be Thou our guard while troubles last,
And our eternal home.

THEME: WHEN REVIVAL COMES I.

MEMORISE:

 Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee? Psalm 85:6

READ: Psalm 85:4-7.

4 Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease.

5 Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations?

6 Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?

7 Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy salvation.

MESSAGE:

In Christianity, revival generally refers to increased spiritual fervency or renewal in the congregation of believers.

What happens when revival comes? According to our Bible reading of today, people turn away from their wickedness when revival comes. Salvation becomes a household commodity and the anger of God ceases to burn against people. One pleasant thing about God concerning sinners is that He would always warn them of the dangers of a sinful life so they may repent and escape His fiery judgement. The Bible says in Ezekiel 18:21 -23:

“But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die. All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live. Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?”

Another thing that happens when revival comes is that God answers the prayers of sinners- contrary to the general opinion that He does not. However, it is the prayer of repentance from a sinner that God honors before any other, according to 2 Chronicles 33:12-13. Revival brings about total restoration of both spiritual and physical wellbeing as seen in 2 Chronicles 33:14-15:

“ Now after this he built a wall without the city of David, on the west side of Gihon…. And he took away the strange gods, and the idol out of the house of the LORD, and all the altars that he had built in the mount of the house of the LORD, and in Jerusalem, and cast them out of the city.”

The true sign of revival is a genuine departure from an ungodly lifestyle, both publicly and even when we are in our closet. This is contrary to what we experience in the Church today when people claim to be born-again but still maintain their sinful lifestyles. Manasseh dies a penitent sinner and had peace. According to 2 Chronicles 33:18-20. Your beginning may not matter much but your end certainly will. You shall end well in  Jesus’ name.

PRAYER POINT:

If you are a sinner, pray for the salvation of your soul. If you are a backslider, pray for revival and complete restoration.

THEME: ASPIRING TO HIGHER LEVELS?

MEMORISE:

And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. Matthew 23:12

READ: Psalm 61:2

2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

MESSAGE:

There are various levels in life. When we talk about health, we have those who are sick; even among the sick, there are levels of sickness- some are sick, some are very sick while some have terminal sickness. Some may even be dying. When we talk about wealth, there are destitute. The poor, the comfortable, the rich, the very rich, the wealthy and the flourishing. The flourishing are those who, according to the Bible lend to nations. There are also those who have so much abundance that it is difficult to imagine. In 2 Chronicles 9:20 we read:

“And all the drinking vessels of king Solomon were of gold…”

There are also various levels of joy. There are those who are sad, there are sympathizers, there are those who have joy and those with great joy. The Bible in Psalm 16:11 talks about the fulness of joy that is available in the presence of God. The Bible also talks about “joy unspeakable” in 1 Peter 1:8.

There are also varying levels of victory. There is victory after a fight, victory without a fight and victory when the enemy miraculously disappears. There is also a kind of victory recorded in Psalm 23:5:

“Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.” There is nothing as glorious as rejoicing in the presence of our enemies.

In any aspect of life, everyone is at one level or the other. It doesn’t matter where you are, there is a higher level you can get to. Moving from one level to the other involves three possibilities: One, you want to move to the next level unassisted. Two, you want to move to the next level with assistance. Three and lastly, you are trying to move to the next level, but facing resistance.

It is easier to move to the next level of your life when you have the Lord Jesus as your ally. The Bible says the blessing of the Lord maketh rich and addeth no sorrow with it (Proverbs 10:22). Surrender your life to Christ now so that He can take you to the next level. No one can resist or stop Jesus from doing whatever He is determined to do, according to Psalm 24. The plan of God is to take you to the next level according to Jeremiah 29:11 which says:

“ For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

ACTION POINT:

Think of the level you should attain that would make stagnation history in your life, then call on the name of Jesus for divine assistance.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalm 66-68.

HYMN 10:   I’M PRESSING ON THE UPWARD WAY.

1. I’m pressing on the upward way,

New heights I’m gaining every day;

Still praying as I’m onward bound,

“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

o Refrain:

Lord, lift me up and let me stand,

By faith, on Heaven’s tableland,

A higher plane than I have found;

Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

2. My heart has no desire to stay

Where doubts arise and fears dismay;

Though some may dwell where those abound,

My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.

3. I want to live above the world,

Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled;

For faith has caught the joyful sound,

The song of saints on higher ground.

4. I want to scale the utmost height

And catch a gleam of glory bright;

But still I’ll pray till heav’n I’ve found,

“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”
